Children's Rowing
We will be running a number of rowing sessions for children during June and July, for children of 7 and over.
The aim is to teach them, how to handle and look after a rowing boat using the four rowing skiffs the club owns, with CRB checked adults as instructors.
We want to give an understanding of how a boat responds and to give them the confidence to participate in further rowing with the club, and in the races during the Town Regatta.
The sessions will start the week after the half term holiday on Wednesday June 9th from Batson Slipway, and be between 5.00pm and 7.00pm with the last half hour of each session being used to get the boats out of the water, cleaned and stored.
If interested, please contact Jonathan on 07811 588086 so that we can get an idea of numbers and to plan to make the most of each session.
Fun and the enjoyment of rowing are what we want to achieve, and to do this we feel it is important that the adults giving up their time to teach the children, have an opportunity to do so. Therefore, lifejackets should be worn at all times during the session whether on the water or on land, and when not in one of the boats your child remains your responsibility…….besides, you'll want to help launch and put the boats away……just as much as we do!
